Rebuilding the area surrounding the Schindler House, and then using the Schindler House as the constant while the city changes. The Schindler House laid out an idea/vision for a certain kind of life in LA. The surrounding area can represent what life became in LA. The surrounding area is the reality that came about after the Schindler House and it ideas on life in LA.

The Schindler House and its surrounding area can also be used as an example of how LA treats its historical spaces.

Four artists living at the Schindler House using every space to its maximum capabilities.
Architect: Justine
Fashion Designer: Pauline
Patisser: Karen
Photographer: Esther
The music relates to the atmosphere of each part of the house used as dialogues. The film will be about what goes on in the daily life of four successful artists' lives.
The four people have a totally different career that have no relation to each other but interacts together within the same space. The beginning of the film starts with featuring everyone doing their own thing (using the kitchen, sewing room, backyard, roof.. etc) focusing on their work and utilizing their work space (individual lifestyles and routines). But at the end of the day, they all come together, enjoying each others' company, despite the different careers and different personalities.

Group Reflection
The architectural aspects of the residential project Schindler house and found it was relative to the personality of the architect to communicate his identity through materials that were a significant part of his design. The Schindler house is conventional to architectural functions- the interior relates to the exterior space. The plans resemble an L shape, reminds us of the keyboard and that made us think of how architecture can definitely be inspired by music.
The architect, Rudolf Schindler, might have drafted his plans to cinematic tunes- the plans and the articulated sections of the complex space have a sophisticated flow to how it circulates and functions. The architectural plans can be explored with music and can definitely add a touch to the film. Our group can maybe agree to do a silent film with music that defines the space.
“Each room in the house represents a variation on the constructive architectural theme. This theme corresponds to the principle requirements for protecting a tent: a protected back, an open front, an open fireplace and a roof. Each room has a concrete wall at the rear and a large front opening onto the garden with sliding doors. The shape of the rooms and their relationship to the patios and various roof levels creates a totally new spatial concept between the interior and the garden.” –Schindler
Our project idea is making a silent black and white film incorporating it with music, to research more on how architecture and music can correlate and inspire each other and produce the senses of the inner and outer personalities of an individual that can be heard, seen and felt visually, reenacting the two couples that lived in the Schindler house. Since the house was built more as a utility house than a residential house, as a group we could act the parts of the individuals and how the house could have possibly been effectively used. In the research, there was information of what kind of rooms were in the Schindler House, which were, two studios connected by the utility room, which consisted of the kitchen, laundry, sewing room, and storage. We could film the lives of the couples that have a career that would effectively use the space.
